Previously Wellcome Open Access Publication Fees
The Charity Open Access Fund (COAF) is a new policy effective from 1 October 2014, as a two year pilot.
This new policy will apply to you, if you are grant funded by any of the following:
- Arthritis Research UK
- Breast Cancer Campaign
- British Heart Foundation
- Cancer Research UK
- Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research
- Wellcome Trust
The Charity Open Access Fund (COAF) has been set up to reimburse Article Processing Charges (APC) paid by researchers funded by any of the six charities. Oxford is one of 36 UK research institutions receiving a COAF Block Grant, to be administered by
the Wellcome Trust in the same manner as the Wellcome Trust operated to date.
The University of Oxford’s COAF award for 2014/15 runs from 1st October 2014 to 30th September 2015, and is operated on a first come, first served basis. A further award for 2015/16, operating on the same basis, has been granted and runs from 1st October
2015 to 30th September 2016.
From 1st May 2015 there is a new procedure for reclaiming payments for articles funded by Charity Open Access Fund. Instructions can be found on the Open Access Oxford website.
