Meet Me Programme for Older Adults

Meet Me is a social group for older people, that enables free, behind-the-scenes access to the Oxford University Gardens, Libraries and Museums sites and their collections. These include:

  • Botanic Gardens and Harcourt Arboretum
  • Bodleian Library
  • Ashmolean Museum
  • History of Science Museum
  • Museum of Natural History
  • Pitt Rivers Museum

These events take place on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, 2 - 4pm.

Sessions usually last around 2 hours and are free, but booking is essential as spaces are limited.

Whether you are visiting for the first time or a regular participant, and you can be sure of a warm welcome.

See below the list of sessions we have to offer coming up. These sessions have become extremely popular, so to allow as many people to enjoy theses sessions as possible, we are limiting bookings to three of the six sessions per person, with the option to be added to the waiting list for any others. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Wednesday 17th April, 2pm - 4pm: Chaucer Here and Now at the Weston Library

Chaucer: Here and Now presents Geoffrey Chaucer as you haven’t seen him before. Not as the “Father of English Literature”, but as a dynamic, global author, whose works have been reworked and reinterpreted over time and around the world. Each generation reinvents Chaucer, taking inspiration from his work, and finding new meanings. Enjoy a tour of the exhibition with Curator Professor Marion Turner, followed by creative activities exploring Chaucer's world.
